Phuket is one of the world's most stunning destinations for yacht regattas and pleasure sailing as the island is surrounded by dramatic limestone formations that seem to jump out of the clear warm Andaman Sea to surprise and entertain the visitor.
With the recent development of world class marinas and yacht facilities, more avid sailors are choosing a holiday around the Southwestern coast of Thailand as an escape and an adventure on the high seas. Fortunately, for the yacht enthusiast who demands beauty and comfort in a chartered yacht, this yacht, managed by Platinum Escapes, is available for a holiday of a lifetime.
The yacht is a 76 foot custom super yacht hand built in the Spertini Alalunga shipyard near Genoa in 1982. The yacht was crafted from double planked mahogany and teak woods. The interiors are burled mahogany wood paneling with a light beige suede roof lining to create the impression of understated elegance.
“Impressive attention to detail is the trademark of a Spertini Alalunga yacht. Only one or two of these beautiful crafts were created each year and they quickly became known as the Bentleys of the high seas,” says its current owner, Karim Azar. “We've had the yacht in our family since 1984. We sailed her around the Mediterranean for several years before bringing her to Hong Kong where she has been a favorite cruising yacht for both business and recreation.”
Chosen by an impressive collection of international celebrities including Joan Collins, Kevin Costner, Brian Ferry, Jackie Chan and Oliver Stone for yachting adventures, this yacht was also featured in the Pierce Brosnan film, Tai Pan, when docked in Hong Kong.
With a cruising speed of 12 knots, the twin turbo 1250 HP engines can propel the yacht a comfortable 800 nautical miles a day for those who want to explore the variety of islands and hidden coves and villages along Thailand 's west coast.
Charters can also be arranged to visit the Muslim fishing villages on Northern Phang Nga Bay, the many deserted limestone islands surrounded with hidden bays and pools for swimming or a cruise to majestic Phi Phi Island and nearby Maya Bay, site of the film, The Beach. Farther afield are the enchanting shores of Krabi province with endless islands, bays and villages to explore.
The yacht can be chartered for business meetings, weddings, parties and receptions. You can design your fantasy holiday or memorable celebration and the yacht and her crew will ensure you have the escape of a lifetime.
